field actually it basically means any malicious software, hence the name.

alsosay for instance Avira antivirus hence the name. if you go to
avira.com you will see that 99.5 percent of what they have listed under
virus info is actually not a true virus. with the majority of it being
spyware. so why do the bother even calling it an antivirus? they should
call it an antispyware.
heebes you really need to go read wikipedia
malware is defined as any malicious software that includes viruses trojan
horses spyware. etc.
it doesnt have its own category.
all i'm
trying to say is whether a product is called an antivirus or antispyware
or antimalware (that is really broad one) they all have
virus/spyware/malware definitions with most of the definitions being
spyware
people who create this malware arennt going to benefit from
creating a true virus. l had one of those once it took over my system
files before l could do anything about it. A true virus modifies or erases
files on your system. if they screw it up that bad how are they going to
steal your credit card number?
ok fed up l see you changed you answer
and got rid of ''all 3 types'' lol

If you trust the company that provides the product, then go by
atchi & sitchi
what they say about it.

If they specifically state that it removes viruses, trojans and spyware

In each of those categories, no product catches everything, so I doubt

they have made a claim about catching everything in all three types.
